For Immediate Release — July 31, 2019 — Oklahoma City — Last week, cooperative general managers, board members and industry partners from Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas met in Santa Fe, NM for the 2019 Oklahoma Agricultural Cooperative Council (OACC) CEO & Board Retreat. This year’s conference theme was "Dare to Disrupt," allowing participants to think strategically about how the cooperative model fits into market disruption as well as how to facilitate disruption within their respective cooperatives. The event began Tuesday with a full morning of speakers covering innovation, leadership and talent. Wednesday continued the theme of disruption with sessions on technology, communication and intentionality. Later that evening, the retreat closed with a silent auction benefitting the Ag Co-op Political Action Committee and a banquet headlined by Kevin Tutt of Tutt & Daggs. "Our goal for the retreat this year was to engage our members in thought and discussion on the potential for their cooperatives to be disruptors and learn about the disruption taking place throughout the marketplace," said Sarah Baca, OACC’s Director of Education and Recruitment. "As the dynamics of the agricultural industry change, it is imperative for cooperatives to evolve to meet the needs of both producers and consumers. Disrupting traditional ways of thinking and identifying new possibilities are a part of that evolution." This event would not be a success without the support of many individuals and organizations. OACC would like to extend a big thank you to all sponsors, speakers, interns and most importantly, our members who attended the retreat this year. Incorporated in 1973, the Oklahoma Agricultural Cooperative Council (OACC) is a member-supported organization advocating for agricultural cooperatives and their producer member-owners. With a mission to enhance the understanding of cooperatives and advance their development, OACC is driven by a commitment to provide educational resources for the betterment of member cooperatives.
